Show us the Muscle

Jerry Maguire - Show me the MuscleOK, we’re already a month into the new year. How are you progressing toward your fitness goals? If you need extra motivation, we suggest you follow Fitness Aims on twitter… because we want you to

SHOW US THE MUSCLE! — Jerry Maguire

Whether you’re working hard to tone up or to shed some ‘extra love’ the San Francisco Tailor will provide you with a custom made suit that shows — not hides — your results. Your body isn’t exactly like everybody else’s. So why would you buy a suit that is made for the masses?

Don’t let those hours at the gym go to waste.
Don’t let off-the-rack clothes insult your beauty. Fitness is beautiful.

A bespoke suit enhances what women are sculpting. If you have a muscular body, we can tailor clothes that fit. Adios back and shoulder issues! Need a customized coat that doesn’t strain at the biceps? Women, don’t worry about getting big if you like weightlifting. Men’s bodies are made to develop big, bulky muscles. Nevertheless your proportions will change over time. If you’re cyclists, calves are gorgeous… and we can make room for them too.

Don’t settle for clothes at the stores that hide your form like a tent
because your biceps, shoulders, or calves don’t fit the fashion industry’s idea of beauty.

Generation-Iron

As American men play more sports and workout more often, department store suits have failed to keep up with the times. You are Generation Iron, whether your sometimes drink protein shakes or pursue a career as a bodybuilder. Our custom made suits and tuxedos can exhibit your best assets, from broad shoulders to buff legs. Athletic grooms and groomsmen shouldn’t feel unnecessarily uncomfortable at a wedding. (Consult the ‘Flatter his Figure’ section of this groom’s suit guide.) We also tailor vests and coats to your personal proportions.

Design your power suit in as few as 5 minutes.
Wear your new confidence in as few as 3 weeks.

If you’re unsure about getting accurate measurements, don’t hesitate to contact us. The SF Tailor also accommodates special requests. We excel in tailoring clothes from photographs and your unique measurements. Read here to learn more.

Prom Promises to be Unique

With red carpet awards season nearly here, the SF Tailor is preparing to celebrate prom season with so many high school students who have worked hard for the past four years and will graduate soon. Much more than a dance, prom is a tradition for teens to take a night out and create memories together before many go separate ways to attend different colleges and universities.

A couple of years ago, USA Today estimated an average $1,139 spent on prom. We can’t imagine exactly how that money is spent … but we know teens want well-made, good fitting and unique clothes for this special occasion. Men’s Wearhouse says tuxedo rentals are $60 to $200 and must be returned obviously. For a bit more, we can tailor a bespoke tuxedo you can keep!

Girls don’t want to show up in identical dresses. (Dare to be bold like Lorde’s oversized tuxedo at the Hunger Games: Mockingjay premiere.) So why should guys wear rental tuxedos like bowling alley shoes? Do you want your boyfriend or prom date look like every other penguin?

Prom is your red carpet moment. There’s absolutely no competition when you custom order with us… and best of all, you keep the wardrobe.

If you don’t want to be outshined, send us a photo with your measurements. (Don’t know them? Just visit a local alterations place and a few minutes later, you’ll know.)

Easiest Question to Answer for Newly Engaged

Katherine Heigl reveals her excitement and engagement ring.

First, congrats to all newly engaged couples!

We know serious thought and time has been spent on planning proposals. We also know some money and thought have been spent on that bling of a ring!

Let The SF Tailor answer the easiest wedding planning question: Are suits or tuxedos the way to go?

Here are some considerations for you to decide:

  • What time is your event? Evenings are more formal than afternoon affairs.
  • Will the event have an Oscar-nominated red carpet ambiance?
Want guests to confuse your groom with James Bond?
  • Rustic wedding in the country or modern loft wedding in the city?

Whatever your budget, our custom-tailored suits or tuxedos will lessen the stress of the men who are most important to you — from the father of the bride to the groom, from groomsmen to the ring bearer.

  • Rental tuxedos remind them of bowling alley shoes and/or roller skates.
These men get high-quality clothing they can choose to wear to other special occasions.
  • Rushing to pick up and return the tux days before and after the wedding isn’t fun.
We conveniently deliver the bespoke clothing to your doorstep.
As the organizer, everybody’s already checking in with you.
  • Relaxed, confident and comfortable is how men feel in custom-made clothes.
These clothes are tailored to personal measurements, presenting men at their personal best.

QC for GQ Groomsmen

First things first, The SF Tailor team wishes the best to the brides and grooms. We also want to thank you for the privilege to tailor custom made tuxedos and suits for your special occasion. We will responsibly suit up the guys to look attractive on the day of — and especially in those long-lasting photographs.

We know many people have worked hard to organize a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception. To help you execute these detailed plans, may we present 5 reminders to do some quality control (QC) for your GQ groomsmen:

    1. Most boys dislike wearing formalwear. Sometimes they grow into men who detest it.
Our bespoke clothing makes them feel more comfortable. Unfortunately we can’t do much about fear of public speaking. Armed with some basic tips and after some homework, making toasts and giving speeches can be slightly easier whether you’re the best man, father of the bride or groom.
    2. Break-in new dress shoes two weeks to one month before the wedding.
Don’t procrastinate because sore feet aren’t the memory you want. After you buy new dress shoes, wear them in your home or office for 10-15 minutes daily. Gradually lengthen that time. Shortcuts to stretching your shoes include having a professional cobbler do it or buying a DIY stretcher… Alternatively polish up existing dress shoes if you’re going to wear them.
    3. Cut or trim your hair 3 – 7 days before the wedding. You won’t have time on the day of, and you may need a week for some hair to grow back. Consider getting a professional barber to shave or trim your facial hair a day or two prior to the ceremony.
    4. Between the time your groomsmen received their custom tailored suits or tuxedos from us and the wedding day, wrinkles can set in. Don’t iron these yourself for this occasion. It’ll take us 2 weeks to replace it! For a few dollars or quid, a professional dry cleaner can iron out wrinkles a week before the event
    5. Last but not least, sleep the night before the BIG DAY!
We know these are your friends. So relax with them, whether you prefer a round of golf or a few rounds of beer. The wedding day is like a marathon, so you’ll need stamina. Those men must fulfill their duties, from escorting guests to serenading the bride with JT’s choreography.

Custom Holiday Fashion for Women

green custom made women's suit jacket peaked lapels by San Francisco Tailor

Tailor made fashion for women is gaining momentum worldwide. Prepping now for what you should wear to all the holiday parties will save you time. Down the road you’ll have one less thing  to worry about during all the rush.

Holiday fashion is expected to be awash in glittering gold and pink hues.  While an all black ensemble is still expected, lighter colors such as camel and sand are breaking through the monotony.

For the party season, we suggest 5 holiday looks that can be created and handmade for you by The San Francisco Tailor studio for the modern woman:

1.  Stand out in a custom vest. What makes this stylish is the element of surprise. It’s unconventional at holiday parties, where women resort to dresses. Make a chic statement in a classic silk ivory or black vest paired with dark trousers or slim fitting blue jeans.

2. Wear a tailored tuxedo. Party the night away as you rock a tuxedo jacket. For a true party vibe, opt for a midnight blue tux with a satin shawl collar. Pair with a tube top, silk blouse or shell underneath. Bold enough to mimic celebrities? Get tape & watch this video tutorial to prevent any wardrobe malfunctions.

3. Dare to shine and sparkle. If you’re getting a tuxedo jacket, take it up a notch. Opt for one with tails. Shine in that social spotlight. Or sparkle in a sequined dress matched with a black tuxedo jacket with tails. Wallflowers might shy away from this style adventure.

4. LBD. A party is never complete without a phenomenal LBD, or little black dress. It’s pretty predictable. So stylists recommend a tuxedo jacket over your favorite little black dress. Other women will cover up with typical shawls, scarves or cardigan sweaters.

5. Short suits are a popular trend now. The patterned fabric looks chic and provacative at any given occasion. Matching shorts and tailor made suit jackets seem a bit cheeky whereas skirt suits and trouser suits are more conventional.

Wedding Suits for Men: Things to Know Before Ordering!

lead singer wears custom tailored suit personalized online by San Francisco Tailor

Online ordering isn’t tough. It’s just as easy as buying something at a shop if you know the right process. When you plan to purchase wedding suits for men, it’s a big risk. You can’t afford to place an order without knowledge of the source you’re buying from. There are more things to understand before you add anything to your online shopping cart.

One of the most important things is to pay attention to details. Weddings shouldn’t be anything less than unique. When selecting a suit, look at the style or cut — and ask how the fabric matches expected weather conditions or the time of the wedding ceremony. Ask your partner, bride or wedding planner about the overall theme. Best yet, how will your custom tailored suit or tux compliment your personality?

Wedding suits for men should be personalized garments, so they best fit your needs. Don’t waste valuable time visiting stores that may not have what you want. All you need to know is how to select the best item at the right price. Reviews certainly assist in making decisions.

Online ordering has a lot of benefits — but it doesn’t give you the chance to try on the suit before buying it. Understand your body type. Reporting incorrect measurements can affect your range of motion and comfort. Then choose a particular cut.

Next, let’s narrow down the fabric. Several textile options are available. You’ll want to be comfortable, so suiting material should match the season or climate in which your wedding will be held. Pick your color carefully because your suit plays off your skin’s complexion… and will be captured by a photographer and/or videographer. Consult with your partner, bride or wedding planner to be on the safe side.

In this regard, wedding suits for men can be purchased online with care. Make smart choices for your wedding suit, but don’t forget accessories can take your look to a new level for your special day. Assured you’ve made a great decision, you’ll have more fun and your personality will express itself well at the reception and party. You can be sure you’re buying yourself much more than the shirt on your back!
